Children’s Academy

Children’s Academy is a special education school in New York, NY, located at 317 E 50th St. It serves children with speech and language challenges and learning differences, educating students from kindergarten through twelfth grade across two midtown Manhattan campuses. Children’s Academy was founded in 2009 as an independent 501(c)(3) school within a developmental pediatrics practice on East 82nd Street. It began with two students and a conviction that therapy and academics should be integrated. The school placed licensed Speech-Language Pathologists inside the classroom from its earliest days. By 2019, it established a flagship campus at 317 East 50th Street in partnership with Saint Albans. The school expanded to serve students through twelfth grade and graduated its first high school seniors in 2022. In 2024, it opened a second campus at 109 East 50th Street to serve the Upper School.

Families can complete an inquiry form to begin the admissions process and schedule a campus tour. The school welcomes questions from parents and provides support through every step of enrollment. Admissions Director Joe Surak and Director of Finance and Operations Lawrence Feltz are available to assist with applications and technical issues. Applicants submit materials through the Veracross portal and may be invited for a classroom observation and interview.
