D'Urso, the studio approaches architecture and interior design as a single discipline. The studio also features a furniture and lighting collection designed by Axis Mundi, which includes seating, tables, casegoods, desks, beds, mirrors, chandeliers, pendants, and custom luminaires.

The studio's portfolio includes residential work such as combined residences on the Upper East Side and a 12,000-square-foot residence in the Hamptons, as well as the interior architecture of landmark buildings like 432 Park Avenue and 445 Lafayette Street. Their design approach focuses on material precision and spatial clarity, often utilizing custom furnishings and rare materials to create environments tailored to a client's personality and the specific conditions of a site. Projects are conceived with a commitment to quiet luxury, balancing sophistication with subtlety.

John Beckmann has received recognition including the Best Residential Interior award at ARCHMARATHON, a Graham Foundation grant, and a MacDowell Colony Fellowship. He has also served as a visiting critic at the Yale School of Architecture, Pratt Institute, and Parsons. His work has been featured on Bloomberg TV and received two nominations for HGTV's Designer of the Year.
