Suffolk Obedience Training Club of Lindenhurst

Suffolk Obedience Training Club of Lindenhurst is a dog training club in Lindenhurst, NY. The club has been offering obedience and rally classes since it first opened its doors in 1947, making it the oldest training club on Long Island. Classes are open to pure breeds and mixed breeds, puppies and adult dogs, and are held during both day and evening hours at the club's own indoor training facility. SOTC instructors are AKC competitors, certified trainers, evaluators and judges, and the club's training methods have been proven at AKC sanctioned and licensed trials year after year.

The club is a non-profit charitable organization whose mission centers on affordable training classes for dogs and their owners, with the goal of strengthening the bond between pets and their people. Training methods are described as time-tested and current, with kindness to the dog stressed at all times. Classes are offered from beginner through advanced levels, and the club also hosts workshops, seminars, obedience matches, rally run thrus and trials. Club members and the broader dog-owning public can contact the club by phone, mail, or email to sign up or ask about scheduled sessions. The club marked its 50th anniversary with an Annual Obedience Trial at Caledonia Park and a proclamation from the Town of Huntington, and its volunteers have continued to serve as officers, directors and event coordinators in the years since.

The training facility sits on South 2nd Street, just off Farmingdale Road and North Wellwood Avenue, with Straight Path also nearby. North Lindenhurst Pool is a short walk to the north, and William E. Rall Elementary School and Kelly Eiring-Cuomo Park are both within about half a mile.

With more than seven decades of continuous operation and instructors who actively compete and judge at the national level, Suffolk Obedience Training Club remains a fixture of the Long Island dog training community.
