Mc Lear''s Cottage Colony

Mc Lear's Cottage Colony is a campground in Hammond, NY. The family-owned operation sits on Black Lake in St. Lawrence County in northern New York and has been in the fishing and recreation business for almost 90 years, with three generations of accumulated experience running cottages and campgrounds. The property caters to vacationers and anglers drawn to Black Lake's fishing for largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, northern pike, walleye, perch, bluegill, bullhead, catfish, sunfish, and crappie. Guests can choose from fully equipped cottages, a campground and RV park, and camping cabins. The grounds are set away from the highway and near the water, with spacious, well-kept lawns and a shallow, hazard-free shoreline.

On-site amenities include cable TV access, Wi-Fi, a fish cleaning building, the largest dock and fishing pier on Black Lake, docking facilities for privately owned boats, a marine gas dock, boat and motor rentals with late-model and electric-start motors, and a convenience store selling bait, ice, gasoline, oil, fishing and hunting licenses, and groceries. The Fish Bone Cafe serves three meals daily. The cottages date back to the early 1920s, when the first cottage was built, and the property has operated continuously as a family destination since.

The campground is located on County Route 6, also known as Black Lake Road, about 1.6 miles from the Black Lake Waterway Access park, 1.7 miles from Lonesome Bay, and 2.1 miles from Orchard Bay. Black Lake itself is roughly 2.8 miles away, and State Highway 37 lies about 2.8 miles from the property.
