Mount Moriah Christian Academy

Mount Moriah Christian Academy is a private educational institution in Brooklyn, NY. It serves students from Pre-K through the 12th Grade through a Classical Christian education model. The academy was founded over 40 years ago under the direction of Dr. Jerry B. West. It began in a small room of Mt. Moriah Church of God In Christ as a daycare before growing into a full academy. The curriculum incorporates a biblical worldview by cultivating the 7 Christian Virtues and training student reasoning through the Trivium. This method is based on the age of the child, utilizing grammar for grades K-6, logic for grades 7-8, and rhetoric for grades 9-12. Students interact with historical Great Books to develop clear thinking and a masterful command of spoken and written language. Every facet of history, science, math, philosophy, and art is integrated around the truth of the Christian worldview. The academy admits students on a fixed application deadline of June 20th for the upcoming school year. A parent prayer group meets every second Saturday morning of the school year at 7:30 a.m. to reflect on God’s word and seek His blessing on the school. This group is open to all parents. Pastor Samuel B. West and Lady Courtney D. West are associated with the institution.

The academy’s mission is to reach the community with the message of Christ through education. It aims to transform the community by reinforcing Godly principles in the leaders of tomorrow.
