Kenny Carpets was founded in 1960 by Paul Freidman, who built the business on buying directly from national carpet manufacturers in large quantity to pass savings on to customers. The store stocks over 1,000 rolls of carpet, 1,500 carpet remnants, over 200 rolls of vinyl flooring, and over 100,000 square feet of wood and laminate flooring. This volume buying allows the company to offer prices up to 60% off regular retail carpet and flooring prices. For over 60 years, the company has handled projects ranging from small bathroom installations to large commercial jobs, and it describes itself as Western New York's oldest specialty carpet and flooring store. Customers can shop online around the clock, order samples shipped to their door, and use the website's room visualization feature to preview products in their own space.

The Amherst showroom sits on Sheridan Drive, about a tenth of a mile from Niagara Falls Boulevard and roughly two-tenths of a mile from Eggert Road. It is located near the DMV Erie County Auto Bureau, about four-tenths of a mile away, and close to WellNow Urgent Care. The store is open Monday through Thursday from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Saturday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Sunday from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
