The Tomasello family has been producing wine since 1933, when Frank Tomasello received the 68th U.S. license to produce wine after Prohibition ended. The Ranier Red, White, and Rose wines were introduced in 1934, named in honor of Frank’s wife’s maiden name. Charles and Joseph joined the business in the 1940s, adding sparkling wines to the portfolio. Charles Tomasello, Sr. led the winery starting in 1971, introducing experimental hybrids now common in the U.S. Charles, Jr. and Jack joined in 1980, expanding varietals to include Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. The winery began hosting weddings in 1993 and distributed fruit wine in Asia in 1998. The Palmaris reserve vintage line launched in 2010, hard ciders were added in 2017, and Incredible Creams, small-batch wine-based cream cocktails, launched in 2023.
