Westfield Day Care Center

Westfield Day Care Center is a preschool in Westfield, NJ, located at 229 Cowperthwaite Pl. It is one of New Jersey’s oldest not-for-profit child care facilities, providing early learning and child care for children aged two and a half through kindergarten. The center serves families with a sliding scale tuition model and follows the Highscope curriculum for toddler through Pre-K programs, while aligning its private kindergarten curriculum with the Westfield Public School district. It holds a rating of 5.00 based on customer reviews.

Founded in 1968 by a steering committee of members from the Church United and the Community Center, the center began with one classroom and 15 children at the Madison Avenue Chapel. It expanded to the Presbyterian Church on Mountain Avenue in the early 1970s, adding full-day kindergarten, and moved all classes to that location by 1980. An infant-toddler center on W. Broad Street operated from 1983 until 2003. The facility is currently situated within the Reedmer Lutheran Church.

Classrooms are led by dedicated, certified, or credentialed teachers, some with advanced degrees, supported by assistant teachers and part-time aides to maintain low student-teacher ratios. Staff adhere closely to NAEYC standards and meet New Jersey State Guidelines for the Office of Licensing. The center uses ProCare Solutions for family communications, including lesson plans, daily reports, photos, videos, and meal updates. Executive Director Jennifer Chiari oversees operations, while Zeynep Yavuz serves as the Accounting Manager.

The center is known for its positive rating from the customers who have reviewed it, reflecting its long-standing reputation in the community.

Westfield Day Care Center combines its historic commitment to affordable, not-for-profit early education with a nurturing environment that partners parents and teachers in child development.

The center is on Cowperthwaite Pl, just 36 meters from Redeemer Lutheran School and within a quarter mile of the YMCA and Westfield Board of Education.
