Bellamy Kitchen

Bellamy Kitchen is a catering and shared commercial kitchen facility in Union City, New Jersey. It provides licensed kitchen space for small food businesses, meal prep companies, and food producers, offering three different kitchen spaces with dedicated appliances, tables, and small wares. Only one business can schedule a kitchen at a time, and all scheduling is coordinated through The Food Corridor. Bellamy Kitchen does not offer single-use rentals, cooking classes, or one-time bookings. Kitchens 2 and 3 can be reserved together, and a 24-inch char broiler is available to book by the hour separately. Assorted small kitchen wares are provided, including pots, pans, mixing bowls, sheet pans, cutting boards, colanders, graters, spoons, spatulas, whisks, measuring cups and spoons, can openers, and a food processor. Access to additional dry, freezer, and refrigerated storage is located in the downstairs kitchen area. All plans include utilities such as water, gas, and electric, pest control services, waste hauling, internet and WiFi, deep cleaning, bathroom and hand-washing supplies, sanitizer, floor and surface cleaners, and general maintenance and repairs. Storage is available on a first-come, first-served basis to tenants with an active contract who are regularly working in the kitchens. Contracts begin upon sign-up and expire on December 31st of that year, and tenants must renew annually to continue using the facility. Unused hours do not roll over into the following month. Bellamy Kitchen was opened by Meredith Chartier in November of 2018 after a five-year search and construction process. In 2013, she started a meal prep company and had difficulty finding rental commercial kitchen space that accommodated her scheduling and storage needs. She drew on her husband's experience in real estate development, Chartier Group, and began the search for her own commercial kitchen. Meredith shares her knowledge of recipe development and operations with all tenants and offers complimentary efficiency sessions designed to help home-grown businesses adjust to working in a commercial setting. What began as a solution to one business's problem has become an asset for small food businesses in Hudson County and the surrounding areas. Bellamy Kitchen is located at 913 New York Ave in Union City, about 0.1 miles from Palisade Avenue and Firefighters' Memorial Park, and roughly 0.2 miles from the 11th Street Play Ground, the Union City Police Department, the North Wing Viaduct, and the William Tylee Ranney memorial.
