For 65 years, Holy Cross Pre-School has operated as an extension of the Church of the Holy Cross ministry, working to provide a safe, positive, and caring learning environment. Since September 2001, the preschool has run the district's pre-k program under a series of one-year agreements, supplying administration, teachers, and facilities, while the district sets the curriculum and direction. The program uses Creative Curriculum for Preschools, a research-based curriculum built around exploration and discovery, and aligns with the Preschool Teaching and Learning Standards recommended by the State of New Jersey Department of Education. Three classrooms support the full-day schedule, and the preschool is one of two private providers contracted by the district. The preschool sits on Mercer Avenue in North Plainfield, about two-tenths of a mile from Green Brook and the North Plainfield Branch Library, and roughly three-tenths of a mile from the North Plainfield Municipal Building and Somerset Street. A perfect rating from the families who have reviewed the program reflects the standard Holy Cross Pre-School has carried for more than six decades in North Plainfield.
