The Studio Ligaya

The Studio Ligaya is a yoga studio in Metuchen, NJ. While categorised as a yoga studio, the space functions more broadly as a cultural event venue and community hub serving Central New Jersey. The 4,000 sq. ft. space hosts family celebrations, birthday parties, business workshops, podcast creation sessions, pop-up markets, and other milestone events, and also supports small businesses through retail shelf leasing, studio rentals, and coaching. The studio serves families, minority founders, makers, and creatives who want to build in-person experiences and strengthen ties to the people around them. It holds a rating of 5.00.

The Studio Ligaya was founded by Tiffany Joy Argonza, a first-generation Filipina-American who spent over a decade in corporate roles supporting executives in the pharmaceutical and telecom industries before opening the space in 2023. The studio is built on the Filipino value of kapwa, the belief that we are all one and all each other, and the word ligaya itself translates to "joy" or "happiness." Tiffany describes the work growing out of her own experience with postpartum depression and the search for belonging, framing the studio as a room where people from underrepresented communities could celebrate, gather, and find space for themselves. Since opening, the event space has hosted thousands of families, opened its doors to small business owners at community pop-up markets, and hosted recurring gatherings including Ligaya Fest. The space also uplifts small businesses through retail shelf leasing, studio rentals, and coaching.

The studio sits on Jersey Avenue in Metuchen, a short walk from Vidas Park and Center Street Park, and about 0.1 mile from the Brainy Boro Post Office. Children First Christian Montessori School is steps away, Franklin School is roughly a third of a mile south, and New Durham Road is just beyond that.

The studio is held in especially high regard by those who have visited, reflected in its perfect customer rating. As a cultural venue rooted in Central New Jersey, The Studio Ligaya gives Metuchen a dedicated gathering place for joy, entrepreneurship, and Filipino-inspired community.
