MGM Auto Body Supplies

MGM Auto Body Supplies is a body shop in Hawthorne, NJ. The business supplies auto paint and refinishing products to body shop owners and do-it-yourselfers across northern New Jersey, offering a retail location where customers can meet their auto detailing needs and have any color custom loaded into a spray can. The company is family owned and has served the area since 1984.

Founder John G. Swanson owned a small auto body repair shop in Paterson, NJ, and began driving shop to shop in a Ford E150 with a few supplies, motivated to bring lower prices to fellow body shop owners. What started with that van grew into a step van, then a small rental space, and today a 5,000 square foot facility. The company has worked to keep supply costs low and has pioneered name brand products used daily at facilities throughout the area, always looking for product lines that are easy to use, cost less, and perform as well as or better than more expensive options. Some employees have been with the company nearly 20 years, and John P. Swanson has joined to carry the tradition forward.

MGM carries the Matrix System line of automotive finishes, including AccuShade Intermix Paint Systems, FX Series custom colors, clearcoats, primers, hardeners, and reducers. The AccuShade Intermix System allows body shops to produce over 98,000 colors with exact formulas, and Matrix basecoat colors have been sprayed on over one million vehicles. The company also carries GenRock coatings, known for higher gloss, faster dry times, better coverage, and durability, distributed in North America by Lusid Technologies, maker of the Northstar and GenTec lines. MGM holds a rating of 4.80 from customer reviews.

The business sits on Wagaraw Road, about a tenth of a mile from Lincoln Avenue and Stevenson Brook, and roughly two tenths of a mile from the Hawthorne train station.

MGM Auto Body Supplies has built its reputation in Hawthorne on nearly four decades of supplying refinishing products and personal service to the body shops and individual painters of northern New Jersey.
