Carmana Designs Ltd

Carmana Designs Ltd is an interior designer in Camden, NJ. The firm designs, fabricates, and installs custom cabinetry, kitchens, and interior furnishings, with work rooted in the Philadelphia area. Founded in 1981 by the husband and wife team of Carmen and Anna Maria Vona, the company takes its name from the first two names of its founders. Carmen Vona works as both designer and cabinetmaker and has won several national awards for high-end custom kitchens, while Anna Maria Vona serves as an interior designer and applies the finishing touches on his work. The pair coordinate every aspect of a remodeling project, from initial floor plans and permits through final inspections, and they keep clients informed at each stage through email, phone, fax, or in-person meetings while explaining the construction methods underway in the home.

The firm's portfolio reflects a high level of detail across kitchens, studies, and dining rooms. One transitional kosher kitchen in a turn-of-the-century Main Line residence features high-gloss natural Fiddleback Makore cabinetry arranged into two separate work zones, one for dairy and one for meat, each with its own sink, refrigerator, and oven. A project on Rittenhouse Square used custom-stained Anigre with a polyester high-gloss finish and included a side dry bar fitted with glass shelves and mirror for stemware and liquor storage. Other work spans a whimsical dining room overlooking Rittenhouse Square with a dark-stained wenge cabinet and jeweled handles, and a study with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, a coffered ceiling trimmed in cherry crown moulding, and tambour roll-up cabinets housing printers, copiers, and fax machines. The headquarters, in the historic Abbotts Alderney Dairies building built in 1921, has been renovated with state-of-the-art LED lighting that highlights the original architectural details.

The office sits on Kaighns Avenue, about a third of a mile from Fetters Alternative High School and Lanning Square Elementary School, roughly half a mile from the Delaware River, and within a short walk of Kaighn Point and the Central Waterfront neighborhood. The firm holds a rating of 2.00 based on the reviews recorded for it.

For more than four decades Carmana Designs Ltd has built custom cabinetry and kitchens for homeowners across the Philadelphia region from its Camden location.
