Varitage Brew Works of Bloomfield

Varitage Brew Works of Bloomfield is a brewery in Bloomfield, NJ, located at 58 Washington St. The taproom is open to the public Thursday through Sunday and holds a 4.70 rating from customers who have reviewed it.

As a small-batch, independent nano brewery, the business operates with a focus on variety and heritage. The name Varitage is a combination of those two concepts, reflecting the Azorean Portuguese and Italian heritages, as well as the traditions of being raised in Northern New Jersey. The brewery is soccer-centric, blending a passion for craft beer with the sport through match day pours and beer collaborations that celebrate soccer legends and local history.

The brewery is the result of over a decade of work by founder, CEO, and head brewer Mark Costa. Before establishing the business, Costa honed his craft and tested recipes in his garage while working a full-time job. His efforts led to winning home brewer awards in competitions across the nation, including a placement in the Best of Show Round at a 2018 competition in Illinois. This achievement resulted in his first commercial collaboration and helped lead to the establishment of Varitage Brew Works as Bloomfield's first craft brewery. The business aims to serve as a cornerstone of the community by uplifting local businesses.

Varitage Brew Works provides a space where culture and craft meet for the Bloomfield community.

The brewery sits on Washington Street, just a fraction of a mile from Broad Street and the Bloomfield train station.
