Carolina Road Driving School of Knightdale

Carolina Road Driving School of Knightdale is a driving school in Knightdale, NC, located on Junction Blvd. The school provides driver education for teenagers and adults, with programs that include permit instruction, in-car road lessons, road test preparation, remedial driving, defensive driving, and senior and medical driving evaluations. It also offers AAA-certified Driver Improvement Classes for drivers who have received tickets, which can reduce the impact on a license and on insurance costs. The school holds a rating of 3.90.

The Knightdale location is part of a driver education operation with deep roots in North Carolina. Founded in 1963 by W.R. Davis, a former North Carolina Highway Patrol officer who worked in a driver licensing supervisory role, the school has been teaching people how to drive for over fifty years. The current owner joined the business in 1989 after attending the NC instructor school and took it over when Davis retired in 1990. Davis remained active with the school until his death in 1994. The school is involved in all phases of driver education, working with drivers and non-drivers, adults and teens, and was built by one of the original foundation members of the North Carolina Professional Drivers Association.

Services include thirty hours of classroom instruction and six hours of road instruction for teenagers working toward permits, remedial driving for permit and license holders, advanced defensive driving for licensed teens, and teen driving evaluations. For adults, the school provides permit instruction, in-car road instruction, remedial driving, medical and insurance evaluations, and evaluations for senior citizens. Additional offerings include flexible scheduling seven days a week, home pick-up and drop-off for in-car lessons, the use of a driver education car for the road test, statewide service, and information booklets to help students pass the written test. The school is licensed and bonded by the North Carolina DMV and the SB&TSS.
