Founded in 2019, Welcome Tattoo is artist-owned and community-driven, with a focus on quality, professionalism, and a respectful client experience. Co-owner Kohen Meyers established the shop alongside Morgan Grimm, who has helped shape it into a space that supports working artists and upholds a high standard, while also running The Patchwork Market, an independent makers' event that strengthens Durham's creative scene. The team of artists includes Kohen Meyers, David Victor, Eric Ayala, Abby Notwe, Bryan Humphries, and Mark Magliocco, each with their own portfolio of work. Mark Woody manages the front of house. The shop has built a reputation across the Triangle for experienced artists and an intentional approach to the craft.

The shop sits on W Geer St in Durham, just steps from Old North Durham Park and a short walk from Central Park School for Children. The Old Durham Mural, Bay Hargrove Park, and the Pixel Wall are all within a couple of blocks, and Durham Athletic Park is roughly a third of a mile away.
