The company was started in 2010 by Alan and Sandra Hale after the couple relocated from the Detroit area to the Smoky Mountains region to be near their daughter and her family. Alan Hale began his locksmithing career in 1982 when he bought out his uncle's equipment, then spent decades refining his craft at American Lock 'n Key, a large locksmith company in the Detroit metro area. After the economic collapse affected Detroit, Alan and Sandy moved to North Carolina, traded in their personal car to acquire their first work vehicle, and gathered capital from family to stock and equip the business. Their daughter, Kristie Spino, had already made her home in the Asheville area before the move. American Eagle Locksmith operates as a locally owned company serving Fletcher, NC and the surrounding community, and the firm's automotive side has worked with AAA, local dealerships, and multiple repair shops. The shop holds NC Locksmith License #1143, #1098 and #2886.
