Beks

Beks is a bar and American gastropub in Fulton, Missouri. It serves lunch and dinner Tuesday through Saturday, with a menu built around fresh, in-house preparation: hand-cut USDA aged ribeyes and filets, made-to-order pastas using 100% cream, house-smoked turkey, and Show-Me-Farms ground beef for the burgers. The kitchen turns out appetizers such as bacon-wrapped jalapenos, smoked gouda bacon dip, and fried green beans, alongside salads, sandwiches, and a kids menu for children 12 and under. Happy Hour runs Tuesday through Friday from 4:30 to 5:30 pm with 25% off appetizers, half-price wine by the glass, and a dollar off domestic and tap beer and cocktails, and Wednesday is Date Night, when any bottle of wine is half price with the purchase of two entrees. Beks opened in 2005 as a coffee and wine bar and grew into a full-service restaurant; members of the original staff still work there. It occupies two buildings on the historic registry designed by Missouri architect Morris Frederick Bell, and the main building was once a dry goods store run by Bell's son-in-law. The dining rooms keep that history in exposed brick and tin crown molding. The seasonal menus change regularly and daily specials rotate, so the featured dishes are always being updated. Mike Martin, born and raised in Callaway County, has worked in the Beks kitchen since 2016 after years in other local restaurant kitchens.

The restaurant sits on Court Street in the historic Brick District of downtown Fulton, about a tenth of a mile from Fulton City Hall and the same distance from East 4th Street and West 4th Street. Market Street is roughly a tenth of a mile away, the Callaway County Public Library about two tenths of a mile, and Stinson Creek about two tenths of a mile.
