With more than 22 years in practice, the firm works from initial concept drawings through design development, construction documents, and oversight of construction, and serves clients throughout the St. Louis area. Founded in February 2000 by the husband and wife team of Michael and Anne Killeen, the firm is based in a building with its own notable history. In 2005, the operation moved into 3015 Salena, an 1886 factory building in the historic Benton Park neighborhood of St. Louis that was originally built by and home to the Lecoutour Bros Stair Manufacturing Co. It was subsequently occupied by an ice cream cone company, a wooden heel manufacturing company, and an aluminum si[gn company]. The renovation of the structure was recognized with a "Most Enhanced" Landmarks Award from the Landmarks Association of St. Louis, honoring the transformation carried out by Mike and Annie Killeen and the firm's staff during the recent recession. Today the building also houses photographers, attorneys, web developers, and artists alongside the architectural practice. Recent projects include work on the Algonquin Golf Club, a 1920s Spanish Revival-style home addition, and a Mediterranean-style kitchen remodel.

With a 5.00 rating and a portfolio spanning residential, commercial, and historic work across the St. Louis region, Killeen Studio Architects of Florissant combines two decades of architectural practice with hands-on experience in adaptive reuse, from a founders-led renovation of an 1886 factory to award-winning design for homeowners and developers in the St. Louis area.
