Kurtis Kitchen & Bath was founded in 1968 by Louis Kuretzky in Warren, Michigan. Customers called him "Mr. Kurtis," short for Kuretzky, and the nickname became the company name. It began as a wholesale countertop and stock cabinet business, then opened its first retail showroom in Detroit in 1969, when it was among Michigan's first kitchen and bath remodeling businesses to offer on-site inventory and contract services for DIY homeowners and small contractors. Louis's sons Howard and Marty Kuretzky joined in 1969. A wholesale division followed in 1986, Wayne Weintraub joined as VP of Operations in 1994, and Howard's son Aaron Kuretzky joined in 1999 as the company developed a full-service installation division. Wayne's son David Weintraub joined in 2014, and all four Metro Detroit showrooms were remodeled that year. In 2017 the company launched the Home Solutions By Kurtis brand. It is a third-generation, family-owned company that has reimagined over 100,000 kitchens and 100,000 bathrooms across Metro Detroit, and it now operates four locations in southeastern Michigan supported by a warehouse and distribution facility in Livonia.

The Royal Oak showroom sits at 32722 Woodward Ave. Maudlin Park is about a tenth of a mile away, and East 14 Mile Road is about two tenths of a mile from the location.

Kurtis Kitchen & Bath has built a solid reputation among the customers it has served, with an established track record resting on a large base of customer reviews.
