Founded in 1968 by Louis Kuretzky in Warren, Michigan, the company began as a wholesale countertop and stock cabinet business. The name Kurtis originated from a nickname for Kuretzky, which stuck and inspired the brand. Three years after founding, the business opened its first retail showroom in Detroit, becoming one of Michigan’s first kitchen and bath remodeling companies to offer on-site inventory and contract services for DIY homeowners and small contractors. The business has grown to four locations across southeastern Michigan, supported by a large warehouse and distribution facility in Livonia.

The team offers free design consultations to help homeowners reimagine their spaces, handling projects from initial layout and cabinetry to lighting and flooring. Their services include one-day bathroom solutions using durable wall systems that transform the look and feel of a bathroom without the disruption of a traditional overhaul. They also provide cabinet refacing and painting to update existing structures. The company emphasizes creating kitchens and bathrooms that fit the homeowner’s lifestyle and budget, rather than simply following trends.

The business has served the area for over 55 years, with a history spanning three generations of family leadership. It has reimagined over 100,000 kitchens and 100,000 bathrooms across Metro Detroit. The positive rating from its customers reflects its long-standing reputation for quality work and service.
