Detroit Rug Restoration

Detroit Rug Restoration is a carpet cleaner in Oak Park, MI, operating from 14000 Eight Mile W. The business cleans, restores, and resizes hand-knotted rugs, serving customers whose rugs range from garage-sale finds to family heirlooms and rare antiques. It holds a rating of 1.00 based on reviews.

The work is carried out at the same address as Hagopian Rug Restoration on 8 Mile Road, a workroom that handles specialty handwork including reweaving, fringe replacement, color restoration, and resizing. The staff uses old-world techniques to preserve and restore rugs affected by pet damage, moth damage, aggressive vacuum wear, plant water, and heavy foot traffic. Services extend to overedging, overcasting, pile restoration, stain removal, size alterations, yarn sourcing and dyeing, deep cleaning, blocking, knot dyeing, color restoration, and odor removal. Customers can fill out a Rug Repair Inquiry Form online to receive a free inspection and evaluation. The business also maintains an online marketplace of restored vintage and antique rugs, organized by size from small rugs up to 4 by 6 feet through mansion sizes of 10 by 14 feet and up, plus runners in varied sizes. A mail-in cleaning service uses flat pricing for standard rug sizes, with a packing sleeve and prepaid shipping label sent to the customer for drop-off at a local UPS Store, followed by a pre-check inspection and cleaning before the rug is returned.

The shop sits on Eight Mile W, near West 8 Mile Road, with Coolidge Highway and 8 Mile Road each about a third of a mile away. Vernor Elementary School and Einstein Elementary School are both roughly half a mile from the address, and Hardstein Playground is about six tenths of a mile away.
