Golden Paws

Golden Paws is a pet boarding business in Coldwater, Michigan. It provides boarding for both dogs and cats, along with grooming services, and has been offering boarding since 2003. The kennel includes dog runs measuring 4x6 and 6x6 that are fully heated and air conditioned, and dogs have access to a large exercise yard. The fence around the yard is 8 feet tall with a guide wire along the bottom, and there are three additional 6x12 outdoor runs for busier times. Only dogs that are well socialized and pass temperament testing are allowed to run together in the yard, and always with supervision. Cats are housed in a separate area, usually in the grooming room, where they can be cared for and have interaction with people. Golden Paws holds a rating of 4.60 from customer reviews.

The business was established in 1997 as a small 700 square foot grooming salon, and in 2003 it purchased its current home on Darling Drive and added boarding, training and daycare services alongside grooming. Owner Jennifer Rakoske has been grooming in Coldwater since 1993, first at a local vet clinic and then a pet store before opening Golden Paws. Danyelle (Dany) Stalhood joined in 2004 and has been with the business since. Both are graduates of the Michigan School of Canine Cosmetology in Lansing, where the 600 hour course covered breed specific cuts, handling of dogs and cats, and client and business relations. Chloe, a 2022 Coldwater High School graduate, attended the Michigan School of Canine Cosmetology, graduated in May 2023, and joined the team in June 2023. Grooming has been part of the business since 1993, and new grooming clients are being accepted.
