Creative Design Guild

Creative Design Guild is an interior designer in Clawson, MI. Established in 1999, the business specializes in furniture reupholstery and redesign, working with styles ranging from midcentury to farmhouse and focusing on restoring older pieces. The shop is family owned, founded by Luann French and later joined by her son Rodney French, and it serves customers throughout the local area with custom upholstery and furniture work. It holds a rating of 4.00 based on customer reviews.

What began as a small furniture and upholstery business run out of the family's garage has grown into a storefront operation with a dedicated team. Creative Design Guild handles the redesign of existing furniture rather than selling new pieces, taking on projects that include sofas, bar stools, dining chairs, and antique items. Customer accounts describe work on sensitively finished antique collections, midcentury chairs, and family heirlooms, with clients noting precise craftsmanship, fair turnaround times, and clear communication on judgment calls during the upholstery process. Recent and ongoing projects highlighted on the site include pieces such as a Dunblaine Street chair and a Farmington House chair, both restored and reupholstered to like-new condition.

The storefront sits on North Marias Avenue, about a tenth of a mile south of West 14 Mile Road. Baker Park is roughly a third of a mile away, and Clawson Public Schools and Kenwood Elementary School are within walking distance. A Social Security office sits about half a mile from the shop, and Clawson Stadium is nearby as well.

The business has served the Clawson area for over two decades as a family-run upholstery and redesign studio. Its longevity and the repeat recommendations from clients reflect a reputation built on careful, hands-on work with both everyday furniture and antiques. As a local interior design and upholstery resource in a small Oakland County city, Creative Design Guild offers a specific, craft-driven service that draws customers looking to restore pieces they already own rather than replace them.
