Main Line Fence is recognized as Maine's oldest and largest fencing supplier, with roots tracing back to 1948 when it was incorporated as a separate division of Robbins & White, a structural steel erection company in Portland. The company was acquired by Norris Cianchette in 1969, and operations moved to a new location in Cumberland, where the company has remained ever since. Ownership passed to his son, Rocky Cianchette, in 1986, and the business is now led by the third generation, including President Ryan Cianchette. The company employs its own trained staff exclusively to build, install, and repair fences, avoiding subcontractors to maintain control over scheduling and installation quality. More than half of its employees have over a decade of service, with notable longevity including Jack Kinne with 44 years, Brett Asherman with 42 years, and Chuck Masselli with 38 years.

The company has a long history of large-scale projects, including highway guardrail installations on I-295 and the Maine Turnpike, security fencing for military bases like Loring Air Force Base, and the Supermax Prison in Warren. While the installation crews are fully booked for the 2026 season for cedar, PVC, and ornamental metal, the company still offers retail sales of these materials for DIY customers or other installers. Availability remains open for all chain link fence work and guardrail installations. The business also provides materials for various fencing types and can discuss schedule and availability for current estimates.

The business is known for its positive rating from the customers who have reviewed it, reflecting a reputation for professional workmanship and reliable service. Customers have praised the friendly, efficient, and competent crews, noting the beauty and value added to their properties. The company’s longevity and commitment to employee loyalty contribute to its standing as a trusted local provider.
