The shop is dedicated exclusively to car and truck transmission repair and replacement for all automobile makes and models, and has been in business since 1975. Its technicians handle common transmission problems including rough shifting, delayed engagement, automatic slippage, clutch jamming, and odd smells or sounds, and the shop also performs full transmission replacement when a unit is beyond repair. Superior Transmissions is a family owned and operated shop with nearly 40 years of experience, and its work is limited to transmissions: it does not perform brake, tire, or muffler repairs, nor engine tune-ups. By concentrating on one type of service, the shop has built its expertise in that field. Its team uses the latest diagnostic instruments and has access to parts for any model. The shop also offers six month interest free financing for qualified customers.

The shop is located at 928 Sligo Ave, steps from The Nora School and the Greyhound Bus Terminal, and about a tenth of a mile from Quality Time Early Learning Center, Philadelphia Avenue Urban Park, Fenton Street Urban Park, and Georgia Avenue.

Superior Transmissions has served the Silver Spring area since 1975, and its positive rating reflects the experience of the customers who have reviewed it. For drivers in Silver Spring, Bethesda, and Rockville dealing with transmission trouble, that long, single-focus history is the shop's strongest credential.
