Aidan Design is a close-knit team led by founder and creative lead Nadia N. Subaran, who started the firm in 2001 and studied architecture at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. The team draws on backgrounds in architecture, interior design, and craftsmanship. Aidan Design was originally founded by Subaran and her late husband, John A. Schmiedigen, and the values they established, led by creativity, craftsmanship, and a deep appreciation for home, remain at the heart of every project. The studio has built its portfolio over more than two decades.

The process has three stages. Discovery begins with a client questionnaire, first conversations, and a field survey to learn what works, what does not, and what a client hopes a space can be. During design development, clients explore layouts, cabinetry, colors, and materials, refining each detail together. In implementation and completion, the team works alongside builders and craftspeople through installation and stays close to the process afterward to make sure every part comes together as planned.

The studio sits on Brookville Road, about a tenth of a mile from the Lyttonsville neighborhood and roughly a third of a mile from Rosemary Hills-Lyttonsville Local Park. South Ireland Creek is about a third of a mile away, and the Fort Detrick Fire Department Forest Glen Annex, Montgomery County Station 54, is nearby.

Aidan Design brings more than twenty years of residential interior design to Silver Spring and the wider DC area, with a 5.00 rating reflecting the experience of the clients who have reviewed the firm.
