Founded in 2009 by John Mease in Phoenix, Arizona, Fenix Audio began as a mobile car audio business serving local dealerships and private customers. John Mease had entered the automotive accessory trade in 2001, training in car audio installation in Orlando, Florida, and spending the next eleven years working as an installer and manager for independent shops and national chains before launching his own company. In 2010 the operation relocated to Maryland, and in 2012 Fenix Audio entered the fleet electronics installation industry. The company grew into one of the top fleet service providers in the Mid-Atlantic region, covering Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Virginia, and West Virginia. A retail car audio shop opened at 52 Earls Road in 2017 before the company returned its focus to mobile and fleet work.

The business sits on Earls Road, about a tenth of a mile from Eastern Avenue. Chase Elementary School is roughly a fifth of a mile away, and Bengies Community Center and the Bengies-Chase Recreation Center are nearby as well. Saltpeter Creek runs through the area about four-tenths of a mile from the shop.

Customers who have reviewed Fenix Audio have given it a positive rating, reflecting the company's long track record in mobile electronics and fleet installations across the Mid-Atlantic.
