Old Westminster is a Maryland winery and farm dining destination where terroir-driven wines, seasonal wood-fired food, and thoughtful hospitality come together to showcase Maryland agriculture. Founded in 2010 by siblings Ashli Johnson, Drew Baker, and Lisa Hinton, the winery grew out of a small family farm in the rolling hills of Carroll County. The property was originally a retired juniper nursery the family moved to in 2000. After the family carpentry business stalled during the 2008 financial crisis, the siblings committed to transforming the land into a vineyard, planting 10,000 grapevines by hand in 2011 with a small loan from their grandfather. Drew led farming and long-term vision, Lisa focused on winemaking, and Ashli oversaw hospitality and farm experiences. Their first wine was bottled and sold in 2013.
