Blue Iris Flowers is a locally owned and operated shop. Its owner, Allison, purchased the business in the spring of 2011 and took ownership on April 1st of that year. The original shop operated in the heart of Catonsville until the early morning of February 6th, 2017, when a fire that began in the basement of the 117-year-old building spread rapidly and destroyed the shop. While displaced, the shop was hosted by the Riedel family, former owners of Reidel's Florist of Arbutus. A little over a year later, a new space was secured on Frederick Road, and on April 16th, 2018, Blue Iris Flowers reopened on Frederick Rd, where it remains today.

The shop sits at 918 Frederick Rd, on Frederick Road, about 0.1 miles from the Catonsville Post Office and roughly 0.2 miles from Saint Mark School and the Catonsville Fire Department Station 4. The Railroad Crossing Lookout for the Locomotive memorial is also about 0.2 miles away. Business hours run Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and orders can be placed by phone or online.

After rebuilding from a total loss and returning to its original neighborhood, Blue Iris Flowers continues to operate from Frederick Road, the main road through the heart of Catonsville.
