The dental practice at 600 Light Street was started in 1979 by Dr. George Williams as a satellite faculty medical practice of the University of Maryland, Baltimore campus, known as Harbor Healthcare. It was created to serve the low-income elderly residents of the Christ Church Harbor Apartments on Light Street, the same building the office shares. Dr. Williams, a University of Maryland School of Dentistry faculty member, ran a shared faculty practice that included general physicians, psychiatrists, ophthalmologists, and podiatrists. As the University of Maryland relocated its medical clinics, Dr. Williams brought on additional general dentists, including his wife Dr. Lisa Williams and Dr. Nicole Forel in 2006. In 2011, Dr. Nicole Forel took over as practice owner and renamed the office Light Street Dental. The practice continues to serve the original Christ Church Harbor Apartments residents alongside families who have been patients for decades and people living or working in the Federal Hill area. Dr. Forel earned her BA in Natural Sciences from Johns Hopkins University in 2001 and her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in 2005, with additional training at the University of Glasgow and a residency at the VA Medical Center in Washington, D.C. She was named to Baltimore Magazine's Best of Baltimore list from 2012 through 2026 and is a 2026 Top General Dentist in Baltimore City.

The office sits on Light Street, about a tenth of a mile from the Maryland Science Center and a short walk from West Shore Park in the Inner Harbor.
