The company is locally owned and operated, with ownership transitioning to Allison in the spring of 2011, when she assumed control on April 1st. The original shop thrived in the heart of Catonsville until a fire in the basement of the 117-year-old structure caused a total loss in the early hours of February 6th, 2017. Following the disaster, the Riedel family, owners of Reidel's Florist of Arbutus, provided their former business space for the displaced shop. More than a year later, a new location was secured at 918 Frederick Rd, allowing Blue Iris Flowers to reopen on April 16th, 2018, where it continues to operate.

Business hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Customers can call 410-747-5186 to place orders or order flowers online anytime. The store features a Floral Magic Summer Collection and a range of curated options such as Bright Days Ahead, Golden Petite, Fire & Violet, Designer's Choice Summer, Happy Sunflowers, and Bright and Bold. For same-day orders, the business recommends choosing "Designer's Choice" arrangements due to limited availability of certain flowers and to ensure timely processing.
