Annapolis Dance Academy

Annapolis Dance Academy is a dance studio in Annapolis, Maryland. It offers instruction in American and International Style Ballroom, including Rhythm, Latin-social dancing, East and West Coast Swing, and club styles such as salsa, with a specialty in wedding preparation for brides, grooms, father-daughter and mother-son pairs, wedding parties, and wedding guests. Classes serve adults and children of all ages, and the studio has provided dance instruction and exercise for more than 30 years. It holds a rating of 4.80. Adult private lessons run 50 minutes per session and can be booked individually or as a four-pack, with no sharing of dance space or music with other instructors. Children's classes combine traditional tap, jazz, and ballet with ballroom. Classes are kept small, taught by the owner rather than student teachers, and shaped around each child's individual needs. The studio also offers corrective exercise and postural training, personal training, and Dynamic Body Balancing using cranial sacral unwinding and myofascial release. The studio participates in bi-yearly recitals showcasing students from young children through seniors. Annapolis Dance Academy is owned and operated by Jennifer Gooding, a certified ballroom dance instructor, personal trainer, Dynamic Body Balancing practitioner, and corrective exercise specialist. She began dancing at age two, studying tap, jazz, and ballet with Rockette Miriam Sellers at Sellers Studio of Dance in Wheaton, Maryland, and later worked as a registered nurse before opening the academy part-time in April 1996. She left nursing in 2006 to teach dance full time. She and her husband Jim competed at the Virginia State Ballroom Championships in the Pro/Am category with students. The studio sits on Chautaugua Road in the Indian Hills development, reached from Route 50 East to Route 2 North toward Severna Park. It occupies the third house on the right past the neighborhood traffic circle. The academy's rating reflects positive feedback from the customers who have reviewed it, and it has served the Annapolis area for more than three decades.
