The environment is described as warm, open, and calming, aiming to feel like home rather than an institution.

Artisan Childcare Center was founded by Gus Miragias, a jazz saxophonist with a master’s degree from the New England Conservatory of Music. The concept originated in 2000 as a small music studio and expanded to include five arts centers and 32 after-school music programs throughout greater Boston. The first Artisan Childcare Center location opened in Woburn in 2009. The founder established the center to keep arts and music programming alive for young children at a time when such programs were being cut from schools. The center emphasizes a community where every child feels deeply known, supported, and engaged.

The business maintains a positive rating from the customers who have reviewed it. Families can schedule private tours to visit the classrooms and meet educators.
