Jesse Hamilton, Jeff's father, was a carpenter who took on landscaping maintenance contracts for summer estates, and a young Jeff helped on weekends before graduating from the Lawrence High School. He went on to earn a Turf Management Degree from the Stockbridge School of Agriculture in Amherst, Massachusetts in 1978, then built the company full-time while supplementing winter income with bank loans. Jesse Hamilton, Jeff's middle son, now manages the landscape division. He holds a Bachelor of Business Management degree from the University of Maine. Jeff himself is a Mass Certified Arborist and ISA Certified Arborist who was born and raised in Falmouth. He still enjoys biking, fishing, skiing, and boating with family and friends.

The office sits on Nathan Ellis Highway, about 0.4 miles from the Crane Wildlife Reservation Field and the same distance from the main road. Coonamessett Reservation is roughly half a mile away, with the Frances A. Crane Wildlife Management Area, Cape Cod Country Club, and Coonamessett Pond all within about a mile.

With a 4.70 rating reflecting the experiences of its customers, Hamilton Tree & Landscape holds one of the stronger reputations among landscaping providers on the Upper Cape.
