Founded in 1980 by Bob and Gloria Chunyk in rented rooms within the Old Congregational Church on Main Street, the business was purchased by its current owner in January 1989. The owner, who holds a degree in Early Childhood Education and has studied Piaget, Montessori, and Mr. Rogers, transformed the operation from basic daycare into Early Education and Care. This shift focused on developmentally appropriate activities that teach, build self-esteem, and help children succeed in a classroom setting. In 1994, the center expanded to five classrooms and obtained a school-age license to serve families who wished to continue their enrollment.

The center operates Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm and offers specific classes for various age groups. The Forest Friends classroom, for children aged 2.9 to 3.4 years, focuses on discovering independence and developing self-help skills such as dressing and toileting. The Cuties classroom serves children aged 3 to 3.8 years with similar foundational learning. The Little Critters classroom, for ages 3.8 to 4 years, emphasizes emotional and social interactions through learning centers and hands-on experiences. The Hoot Owls classroom prepares four-year-olds for Kindergarten with cooperative learning games. The Cosmic Kids Pre-K classroom provides a complex, structured schedule that builds foundational skills while maintaining playtime. The school year begins on August 31st, and new enrollment packets are sent to families at the end of July.

The center is known for its positive rating from the customers who have reviewed it. This reputation reflects the satisfaction of families who have utilized the center’s preschool and afterschool programs. The long-standing history since 1980 and the evolution toward a structured early education model demonstrate a deep commitment to the local community’s childcare needs.
