Offshoots Productive Landscapes

Offshoots Productive Landscapes is a landscaper in Boston, Massachusetts, operating as a hybrid practice that combines landscape architecture, planning, phytoremediation consulting, and horticultural installation. The practice was founded in 2012 by Kate Kennen, a registered landscape architect with degrees from Cornell University and Harvard's Graduate School of Design, who had previously founded Kennen Landscape Architecture in 2004. Completed and ongoing work includes a renovated historic farm on roughly six acres in Sudbury, a roof deck garden in Boston with drought-tolerant plants and views of the skyline, a permaculture-inspired residence in Westwood, a mountain retreat in Stowe, Vermont, and the Warren Street Sculpture Garden in Somerville, where a perennial garden and poplar allee turned a vacant lot into a sculptural urban landscape. The firm's Somerville Pollinator Action Plan, aimed at creating more habitat for pollinators, received ASLA and BSLA awards, and its work has been featured by Houzz and Homes.com.

The office and studio sit on Rutherford Avenue, about a tenth of a mile from Cambridge College, the Charlestown Working Theater, and Charlestown Firefighters Memorial Park, with Main Street also a tenth of a mile away.

Offshoots brings together design, ecological planning, and hands-on installation in one practice, applying that combination to gardens, parks, and streetscapes throughout Boston and its surrounding communities.
