Founded by Stewart Lagarde in 1983, Classic Cupboards is now a second-generation family-owned company, with Stewart’s son John Lagarde joining the firm in 1996. The business operates with a unique design team approach, employing professionally trained designers who create interiors that balance tradition with future needs. The staff includes John, who serves as President and brings a background in accounting and extensive knowledge of cabinetry and appliance lines; Patricia, an interior design expert with over 35 years of experience in space planning and retail management; and Robyn, a CAD technician who translates hand drawings into detailed plans. This collaborative structure allows the team to provide comprehensive planning, from initial concept to project execution.

The design process begins with an appointment at the Harahan showroom, where clients review custom cabinet options and share plans or photos. Once a design agreement is signed and a deposit received, custom cabinets are ordered, with production and delivery taking approximately 7 to 12 weeks. The company offers free delivery to local job sites and provides detailed installation plans. Beyond cabinetry, Classic Cupboards assists with selecting countertops, appliances, and flooring, utilizing products chosen for quality, reliability, and performance. An on-site warehouse ensures products are securely stored until installation, with Operations Manager Frank coordinating all deliveries and scheduling.

The business is recognized for its positive rating from customers who have reviewed it, a testament to the attention to detail and creative vision delivered by the Lagarde family and their staff. Clients frequently praise the firm’s ability to reconfigure spaces for maximum utility and style while managing cost concerns without sacrificing quality. The showroom, often noted for its beauty, allows visitors to browse a portfolio of previous work and experience the range of design options available.
