Cornerstone Child Development Center of St. Matthews

Cornerstone Child Development Center of St. Matthews is a daycare and preschool in St. Matthews, KY, serving children from eight weeks of age through pre-kindergarten. Operating since 2004, the center enrolls children part-time or full-time, with families able to choose two, three, four, or five days per week and the option to add additional days as needed. Students are grouped by age and developmental appropriateness. Hours run Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and the program draws families from the surrounding St. Matthews area.

The center is designed to promote the mental, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual development of every child in its care. Teachers and staff are selected for their experience, education, and ability to create a healthy, engaging classroom, and they base their practice on current research in early childhood education while pursuing ongoing professional development. The program is guided by five core values centered on respect, collaboration, growth, and play. Cornerstone maintains an open-door policy and uses the Tadpoles app to send parents daily updates with photos, information about sleeping and eating habits, lesson plans, classroom curriculum, and individualized notes about each child's day, as well as center-wide announcements and reminders about supplies.

The center sits on Browns Lane, just off Shelbyville Road, about a third of a mile from the Saint Matthews Branch Public Library and roughly a third of a mile from Trinity High School. It holds a rating of 4.9 from the families it serves.

Parents, teachers, and children form the community at the heart of the center, where learning through play and discovery shapes the earliest years of childhood in St. Matthews.
