Ed Messmer, the founders' son, joined full-time in 1983 as the company expanded into utility and military construction. Four years later, the business was renamed Messmer Mechanical, with Ed serving as president. His brother Mark joined the following year, and their brother Roger joined three years after that. In 1998, Messmer Mechanical became a member of The Nexstar Network, an international association of plumbing, heating, cooling, and electrical contractors that promotes best practices. The company subscribes to the Nexstar Code of Ethics, which emphasizes serving customers with integrity, competence, and objectivity, while maintaining ongoing training for employees to uphold high performance standards.

The company offers several guarantees to customers. A job is not considered complete until the customer is fully satisfied with the performance.
