Certified Driving School of Highland

Certified Driving School of Highland is a driving school in Highland, IN. It offers a state-certified driver's education course, adult driving services, road test preparation, and defensive driving instruction, with all materials included. The school is owned by Debbie Lack-Swindell and her husband Larry Swindell, a lifelong teacher certified by both the Oklahoma Department of Education and the Department of Public Safety. Larry Swindell, a career Oklahoma State Certified teacher and company co-owner, designed the classroom curriculum. Rather than relying on the state written manual, instructors present the same material through a big screen presentation with videos, power points, charts, graphs, and cartoons. Instructors reach students through visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles, and students with IEPs dealing with high functioning autism, ADHD and LD thrive in that atmosphere. The school serves a diverse population, from 13 1/2 year old farm and ranch student drivers to 15 year old city dwellers, adult first time drivers, International University learners, and people displaced by the Ukraine/Russia War. It is a family business, and the owners are parents to three sons and a daughter and grandparents to seven grandchildren. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

The school sits on Indianapolis Boulevard, about a quarter mile from 45th Street and a short walk from Meadows Park. The Hamptons neighborhood is roughly three tenths of a mile away, The Meadows about half a mile, and Highland South Fire Station about half a mile.

Certified Driving School of Highland holds a rating of 4.50 from the customers who have reviewed it, reflecting the quality of education it provides to student drivers in Highland.
