Guitarworks

Guitarworks is a music school and privately owned music store in Greenwood, Indiana, located at 996 S State Rd 135 Suite J. Founded in 1987 by Kevin Franklin, the store has served the south side of Indianapolis for over 35 years, offering guitars, basses, drums, PA equipment, and recording gear alongside music education. Its lesson program is coordinated by Rene Franklin, who matches students with the right teacher, and the store also runs an "Around the World in Music" camp each summer for pre-kindergarten through second grade students. The store's Band Builders program groups players by age and skill level into real bands that rehearse for an hour each weekend on the Guitarworks stage with Band Builders coaches. Each six-week session ends with a live performance on the Guitarworks stage in front of family and friends, and a live recording is produced of all the bands. Participants range from kids and teens to adults. In-store repair work is handled by luthier Deric Rush, who studied at the Galloup School of Guitar Building and Repair; players from across the Midwest travel to have their instruments set up by him. General manager Matt Marshall, a lifetime multi-instrumentalist and performer, works with customers on the sales floor.
