BakeLab

BakeLab is a bakery in Urbana, Illinois. It serves pastries, coffee and desserts, with croissants and cruffins among its specialties, and offers catering alongside daily counter service. The bakery was founded in 2021 by Executive Pastry Chef Stacy Shi, who trained at the Culinary Institute of America in New York and worked as an apprentice in restaurants before joining the pastry team at the Michelin-starred French restaurant Daniel and its sister bakery cafe. She returned to the Champaign-Urbana area during the pandemic and partnered with the BrewLab team to open BakeLab. The bakery serves Counter Culture Coffee and operates from 8am to 6pm every day. It holds a rating of 4.70.

BakeLab occupies the lobby of the Yugo Building at the corner of Lincoln and University in Urbana, with parking behind the building and on the street. The bakery sits on North Lincoln Avenue, a short walk from West University Avenue, and within about a quarter mile of Carle Foundation Hospital, Carle Neuroscience Institute and the Peace Garden.

The bakery is known for a positive rating from the customers who have reviewed it, and it has served as a gathering place in the heart of Urbana since 2021.
