Founded in January 1965 by Ken Kurtz, the business began as B & K Cabinets in a small garage on the east side of Joliet, equipped with little more than a table saw and a hand-held router. After early success, the company relocated to its present Shorewood location, breaking ground on a 27,000-square-foot factory that has since grown into a 100,000-plus-square-foot, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility employing more than 80 people. Brakur is the largest manufacturer of custom cabinetry in Northern Illinois, producing locally manufactured cabinets for wholesale and retail customers. The company monitors orders, coordinates deliveries, schedules installations, and works with highly qualified cabinet contractors who complete projects in a timely and professional manner. Their designers use state-of-the-art software to create 3D drawings, allowing clients to see their projects on a large, easy-to-read monitor before any construction begins.
