Schaumburg is located about 30 miles outside Chicago and roughly 11 miles west of O'Hare International Airport. The village has grown from a small farming community into an economic center, and in the past 60 years it has become home to more business than any other community in Illinois outside of Chicago. Schaumburg's businesses serve the community's 78,000 residents, 80,000 employees and the northwest suburbs. The village was incorporated on March 7, 1956, and throughout 2026 it is marking 70 years since that incorporation, guided by the motto Progress Through Thoughtful Planning. Schaumburg's heritage reaches back much earlier, to the Sauk, Fox, Pottawatomie and Kickapoo tribes, and its earliest residents were primarily German-speaking immigrants whose days centered on farming, community and family.
The village offers a range of amenities and attractions, including concerts and the Farmers Market in the Town Square, theater and shows at the Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts, the Trickster Cultural Center, Legoland Discovery Center, independent league baseball at Wintrust Field, and Schaumburg Park District facilities. The Schaumburg Township District Library is the second-largest public library in Illinois, with more than one million visitors each year. The Farmers Market runs every Friday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., June 5 through Oct. 30, in Town Square. Schaumburg's Septemberfest takes place over Labor Day Weekend on the Robert O. Atcher Municipal Campus.
The venue sits on Thoreau Dr N, about 0.1 miles from North Meacham Road and 0.2 miles from the K.A.M.P. Memorial. East Algonquin Road is about 0.3 miles away, South Meacham Road and the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway are each about 0.5 miles away, and 90 North Park is also about 0.5 miles from the location.
Schaumburg has been recognized as a Top Performer in the Economy category of Polco's 2025 Best in Governance Awards, and the village has received a Bronze Bicycle Friendly Community designation from the League of American Bicyclists.
