The Aurelio’s tradition began on August 20, 1959, when the first location opened in Homewood, Illinois. Founder Joe started with a small storefront containing four tables, a small kitchen, and one pizza oven. In the early days, Joe sold six or seven pizzas daily, relying on home-cooked Italian beef sandwiches to sustain the business. He refined the dough and sauce recipes and switched to fresh, homemade Italian sausage instead of pre-cooked varieties. This approach helped pizza sales grow as Joe worked seven days a week as cook, waiter, and delivery driver. By 1962, he expanded into two adjoining storefronts at 2045 Ridge Road, formerly Shreiber’s Hardware. The new layout included a kitchen and bar for adults, and a separate area for parties and teenagers featuring a jukebox, large picnic table seating, and red and white checker-top tables.

Aurelio's Bake Shop maintains a positive reputation, reflected in its 4.70 rating from customers who have reviewed it. This standing highlights the consistent quality and community focus that have defined the Aurelio’s name for decades. Aurelio's Bake Shop brings this established heritage of family and quality to Rock Falls, IL.
