Midwest Coast Brewing Company is a brewery in River Forest, IL. The business was founded by Cameron and Suzie, who moved from California to Chicago and named the venture for the way the city blends a coastal lifestyle with a Midwestern work ethic. Their beers are described as classic in their craft and contemporary in sensibility, suited to a beach day, a softball game, or a walk with the dog. The most popular beers are canned for local stores and also available to-go from the taproom. Cameron began homebrewing with an Irish Red Ale kit in an apartment in San Jose, CA, in 2010, and credits Suzie and his sister Lanie with pushing him to turn the hobby into a business. Suzie handles social and marketing behind the scenes, while Lanie co-designed the taproom. The taproom is family-friendly and dog-friendly, operates as BYOF with snacks on hand and weekend partnerships with local food spots, and hosts weekly events on the first floor and on an all-season rooftop. The brewery runs a PakTech recycling program as part of the Chicagoland Can Carrier Reuse and Recycle Co-Op, accepting cleaned carriers from any brewery in exchange for a pint. Private events, birthdays, corporate gatherings, and holiday parties can be hosted on site, and a small private event space is available by reservation.
