Sleepy Creek Vineyards of Mundelein

Sleepy Creek Vineyards of Mundelein is a winery in Mundelein, IL. The property began as the second careers of Joe and Dawn Taylor, who bought the 39-acre property in 2002 and planted 700 vines. In 2016 the winery was purchased by Erik Plotner and Janette Figueroa, who added a wedding and events venue called the Dragonfly. The wood timber frame barn that houses the winery and tasting room hosts public and private events, including house concerts, comedy shows, theatrical performances, and the annual Sleepy Creek Art & Music Festival. The tasting room accommodates intimate private events for up to 75 people after business hours, and the Dragonfly hosts weddings and other events for up to 250 guests. Lodging above the working winery, called a Bed & Wine, includes a fully-equipped kitchen, all linens, and a bottle of the winery's wine. Sleepy Creek employs about 10 people and relies on volunteers from its Purple Finger Club.
