Second Chance Pet Sitting is owned by Meg Ryan, who grew up in Addison in a large family with many pets and developed an early love of animals, particularly horses, when she began riding at age nine. By sixteen she was a working student at North Wayne Stables in Wayne, IL, learning horse and farm care, and at eighteen she began teaching lessons at Deer Grove Horse Center in Palatine, eventually managing a farm of forty horses. After earning a business degree from Elmhurst College, she spent twenty-two years at Hewitt Associates in Lincolnshire before returning to animal care full time. She moved to Volo in 2006 and began her pet sitting business by caring for a neighbor's dog named Aspen during their weekend and vacation trips. Her own household now includes Ninja, a five-year-old black cat known for opening drawers and cabinets, and she is currently fostering kittens Nugget and Needle.
