Restorative treatment covers emergency crowns and bridges, dentures, root canal therapy and extractions, while cosmetic procedures include fillings, whitening, veneers and Invisalign orthodontics. The practice is led by Dr. Karen Fields-Lever, who grew up in Detroit, Michigan and graduated from Mercy High School before earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology Pre-Medicine with honors at Spelman College. She went on to earn her Doctorate of Dental Surgery at Howard University College of Dentistry and completed her residency at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. Dr. Fields-Lever has practiced for the past nine years and marked the three-year anniversary of her own practice, 28 to Brush. The practice has grown to more than 3,000 patients, and in 2016 she added a mobile dentistry segment that provides oral health services on-site at community centers and schools, now serving over 16,000 students in schools. She is involved with the American Dental Association, the Illinois Dental Society, the Chicago Dental Society, the Academy of General Dentistry and the International Association of Orthodontics.

New patients are asked to share background information such as medical history at their first visit and are given time to meet their dental care team. Patient forms can be completed in advance of an appointment, and the practice explains procedures with compassion and care.

The office sits on Roosevelt Rd. Dr. Fields-Lever has built a practice that has grown to thousands of patients while extending dental care into schools and community centers, and that combination of a neighborhood dental office and outreach work keeps 28 to Brush rooted in the Maywood and Forest Park area.
